OUR FIVE UNFORGETTABLE DAYS IN LOVINAC - DAY 3
One river, three seas
We descend from Sveti Rok to Maslenica on the Dalmatina highway, where the barb Hrvoje is waiting for us, and on the Helena boat, we go on a trip to the river Zrmanja and even three seas - Novigrad, Karin, and Adriatic. There is no end to the joy when we realize that dolphins are following us, performing their multiple jumps. And in Novigrad we are greeted in the sea by a young turtle that swam from Mali Lošinj. Nicole says she is very proud of her for swimming for so long! For our generation 60+, it is an equally great experience to sail the Zrmanja next to the places where the film Winnetou was shot in the 1960s.
The story of one great friendship was and remains our life inspiration, and Barba says that every year crowds of tourists come to visit these sites for that reason. Views of the magnificent Velebit follow us all the way; Sveto Brdo and Tulove grede are our (and not only our) favorites. We are the only Croats on the ship, and we all enthusiastically photograph the breathtaking beauty. And many young adventurers who jump bungee jumping from the old Maslenica bridge leave you breathless.
On the way back, we have only enough strength left to have dinner with the best pizzas, a potato dough with Lika cream cheese and the one with smoked trout from Gacka, at the Cvituša Excursion Site at the foot of the hill of the same name, where on the top is the church of Sv. Ante.
It’s too late to try the zip line, but we enjoy the view of the sculptures adorning the nearby meadow, a gift from the sculptors who had a sculptural colony here. Next year, this place will be full of young scouts at the Croatian Scout Festival.
